What to expect

When you arrive at the Colorectal Care Center, our office team will greet you and facilitate any needed paperwork.

• The Clinical Specialist will take vital signs and make sure we have your complete medical history.
• You will then be shown into a consultation room, where you and the doctor will discuss your condition and concerns.
• Based on the discussion with the doctor, additional diagnostic tests may be performed, including anoscopy, proctoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy or a general examination.

After a diagnosis and treatment regimen is identified, educational materials are often provided so that you and your family understand more about your condition, how to manage symptoms and what additional treatment options are available.

Preparation

Prior to your appointment, please download your First Visit Forms, fill them out, and email or fax your completed forms to our office (see below). Completing the paperwork prior to visiting the Colorectal Surgery Institute gives you added time to describe your symptoms and medical history.

Patients are sometimes asked to take a small enema before an appointment, in case it is necessary to examine the rectum. Our team will advise patients well in advance, if an enema is necessary.
